Samantha Guertin
I paint land/seascapes, mostly related to East Sussex, the area I live in. I value directness, immediacy, atmosphere and authenticity of light and feeling. I take inspiration from the areas unrelenting beauty and I am interested in the how people – and sometimes animals – interact with the natural world.
The Sea Swimmers
Being in the sea is always exhilarating – it can be intense with high waves crashing and you become lost in the moment. I want people to look at my paintings and see themselves at the beach or feel they have just seen those people darting into the water ,chatting waterside or flinging their arms up with joy. I would like them to recognise and celebrate themselves in my paintings.
